Hertz Headquarters coming this year.
Top local and state leaders recently gathered at SW Florida International Airport to make history. Hertz CEO Mark Frissora announced by 2015, the $10 billion car rental giant will relocate to its new headquarters on 34 acres in Estero. Hertz promises to generate at least 700 new jobs in SW Florida by the end of next year. "I'll commit this to you today, Hertz is here to grow with you and we'll be doing that in new and innovative ways," said Frissora. Downtown Cape Coral Revitalized. Recently replacing Leapin’ Lizard in downtown Cape Coral, Ford's Garage will take you back in time and reveal a 1920’s service station/prohibition bar with its old style brick, dark colors, rich wood and hand-hammered copper bar top. This new burger and beer joint has become one of several new “hot spots” in the Cape. Open for lunch and dinner with full menus.
A Seattle-based chain of drive-thru espresso, Baristas Coffee Company,
is dubbed the Hooters of coffee, with plans to open its second Florida location this summer at 403 Cape Coral Parkway E.
Coming to downtown Cape Coral is well-known coffee giant Starbucks.
The Community Redevelopment Agency recently approved the proposal unanimously. The shop will be located at the corner of Chester Street and Cape Coral Parkway, and is expected to generate 25 to 30 new jobs and an economic impact of $120,000 per year over the first three years. City leaders hope the building of Starbucks will serve as a springboard for other national franchises to begin looking at the South Cape as a viable location, “This shows things are starting to happen, and this is a wonderful anchor for the downtown area,” said CRA Chairperson Rana Erbrick. “This is hopefully the beginning of more things to come.”
Cape Coral Yacht Club's KC’s Riverstop, will now be known as Ford's Boathouse,
a novel idea from an owner of the new Ford's Garage, recently opened in downtown Cape Coral. West Coast Chill,
a California-based energy drink company features "the world’s first self-chilling can". The company recently opened its Florida headquarters in Cape Coral, and has distribution in over 90 local shops already. They hired 10 people for sales and promotions, and plan to fill 40 more positions in the next year, according to Chief Operating Officer Mitchell Joseph.
